"Sensible" shoes and sick day project
Allie is feeling much better today, so we worked on a little sick day project to benefit our hamster, Milo. Milo was getting a little bored with his hamster globe, so aided by a cardboard water flat, two shoe boxes, a toilet paper tube and a mile and half of packing tape-- Behold the "Milo Maze 2006"
Milo seemed to enjoy his maze quite a bit, especially adjoining "open area" after he made is way through the toilet paper tube. You can see him scurrying along to the right side of the maze.
Now to a completely different topic, you may recall my "Mary Tyler Moore coat" http://girlnamedmoe.blogspot.com/2005/09/mary-tyler-moore-coatcontinued.html click the link to read all about it, but to re-cap, I found a really awesome and stylish coat that my husband totally mocked. So, the mockery has continued but now he's moved on to shoes. At a post Christmas sale I found the most adorable shoes. It was all about the project "improve me" that I have been working on for quite sometime. So, I'm all excited and I show the shoes to my husband. He says:
"Ummm, yea, those shoes are......ummm.....sensible."
"What!?!!"
"They're sensible. You will get a lot of wear out of them."
My husband is a little younger than me, so maybe he doesn't know that "women in senisble shoes" is code for lesbian- which he knows I am not. (not that there's anything wrong with that) But still, he planted that seed of insecurity that these shoes are really dyke-like and other women in sensible shoes might be eyeing me wondering if I could be there next date for the "Womyn's Poetry Slam" -
So, I leave it to you dear readers....look at the shoes- are they not cute, stylish, fun?

I like the shoes and feel that they can look sexy. Tell your husband that you can not always run around in stilettos!!!

Well, I like them. But coming from me, such an endorsement might not be such a compliment. I think they'd be great with the coat and I love the color. To me, they look fun.

My friend and co-worker, Lora, just saw the shoes as I was backing out and spontaneously said, "Wow! Those are CUTE shoes!" Lora is a fashion maven: stylish but not trashy.
Tell Justin to take that and put it in his shorts.

As part of my own Project Improve Me, I recently bought a pair of shoes that are almost identical to those except that they are black.
My sister (a fashion maven) gave them a big thumbs up!

P.S. I bought about a half dozen pairs of "fun" socks (on sale at Target) to wear with the shoes.

Betty- these shoes are from Fred Meyer and they also have them in black. They are KB brand. I wear them with fun socks.
Tina- If I ever wore stilletos, I would tell him that.
Diana- thanks! they are fun to wear and go with about everything.
Rozanne- I, too, wear fun socks with these! I LOVE Target.
