Stop the spinny ride that is my life...

Okay, I'm ready for my life to settle down...enough changing jobs, working on weekends, moving, trips to Idaho, and...emergency surgery for my husband J all in the span of 3 weeks!!

Yes- J. had a very bizarre accident and had to go in for emergency surgery last week. He hit his groin on a table, causing an internal rupture that was infected with bacteria that then developed into an abcess that needed to be drained. Given the sensitive area of the injury it was scheduled as a day surgery rather than being drained and taken care of at the urgent care.

Luckily, J. is okay now after many days of rest and much vicodin. I have to admit hanging out in the hospital waiting for J. to come out of surgery was rather stressful. I'm not a huge hospital fan, nor was I relaxed and as confident as J. (could the pain-killing drugs have anything to do with it?) I hate, hate, hate seeing people in pain, being around people in pain, sensing the stress and tension in the family waiting room as people read, knitted, typed away on their laptops to pass the time. Seeing people in pain, emotional pain also- causes my heart to pound hard against my chest, my sense of anxiety and tension to rise. I would be a horrible medical professional.

Otherwise, J. is fine- he is getting cabin fever after staying home so many days to recover. I, on the other hand, I have not had a day where I wasn't headed off to do something, so I have yet to spend an entire day in the new house- and it shows- we are in survival mode. Its a little like camping, although sometimes we are forced to scavenge in the garage or in open boxes for various things.

I'm back to walking and managed an 8.5 mile walk with minimal pain! Plus its spring- the days are longer and greener. Yay!

  • Good grief, Stace! What next? Do you think the end might be in sight or is this probably going to last a while?

  • What a scare w. J. I'm glad he's doing OK.

Good for you getting out for an 8.5 mile walk. It's a gorgeous time of year.

  • yay for you and J being ok. The vicodin might have helped with J's mood. I am happy things are settling down for you though.
