Electra woman and Dyna girl...

While watching "SpongeBob SquarePants" and the "Fairly Oddparents" with my daughter, I could argue that Saturday morning children's viewing has become much more witty, fun and have better production values than the Saturday morning stuff I used to watch. Sometimes, I wonder about those shows...like what the hell were Sid and Marty Krofft thinking? or smoking? (this was the 70s after all)

Anyway, among my favorites were Electra Woman and Dyna Girl. I have yet to meet anyone who shares my affection for these heroines, nor have I met many who even remembers that show...I really thought, maybe I imagined the whole thing until I googled it and found information and photos of this duo.

The other show I liked was "Isis"- I used imitate how she spun around and chanted "Oh mighty Isis!" before transforming into Isis, which I thought was pretty cool. Looking back at the actress who played Isis, I think she looks a lot like Catherine Zeta Jones.

I also watched Land of the Lost. I never got how they managed to turn a rafting trip in to travel to some sort of strange prehistoric land. They were also always running from something. I also found the sleestaks a little scary. Plus the whole lost family was kind of annoying to me- especially that little monkey creature they adopted.

It was very cheestastic, yet I remember camping out in front of the TV on Saturday morning and watching them all, either with a bowl of cereal or pop tarts. Laying around in my pjs, with small intermissions to spin in unison with Isis.

  • We've gotten the kids hooked on HR Puffnstuff (how the heck do you spell Puffnstuff - was I even close? It's missing vowels, I just don't remember where...)
    Netflix is great.

  • YES! Electra Woman and Dyna Girl!! Gail and I used to watch her and Isis (and Shazam!) on Saturday mornings with a pop-tart (unfrosted) a-piece. Those were the days. Unlimited TV from the end of the test pattern at 6am until 10am (our parent's bribe to let them sleep in).

  • Sorry this is off-topic. I am glad J is doing fine and things are settling for you. Take care. :)

  • Sid and Mary Crofft--that (Puffn)stuff was freaky!

I think they definitely were Puffn some pretty weird stuff.

It thought it was weird when I was a kid. I can only imagine I'd think it was even more bizarre now.
